Radius: The radius of a circle is the distance from the center of the circle to the outside edge. This outside edge is called the  circumference. The length of the radius  is one half (1/2) of the circle's diameter.
Diameter: The diameter of a circle is the distance of a straight line from one point on the circumference, through the exact center, to another point on the circle's circumference.

The diameter is the longest distance across the circle and is exactly twice as long as the radius.
Circumference: The circumference of a circle forms its curved edge. The distance around the circumference can be calculated using the formula, (circumference = pi x D). It is a type of perimeter.
Templates
A template is a piece of thin but strong metal, wood, cardboard, plastic, or other material used to draw a shape. The three templates in the above drawing have many different shapes.
Circle Templates
This is the circle metric template I used to make my design. I take very good care of my template because it is expensive and I use it all the time.

Semicircle
A semicircle is one half of a circle. This bookmark is designed with two semicircles.
One centimeter square graph paper.
A circle template makes it easy to draw semicircles precisely at each end of the bookmark.
When you have completed the semicircles, join the top and bottom. Plan, design and colour interesting shapes within the borders of bookmark.
Finally, when you have completed your design, cut the book mark to size.

Remembering to leave a one centimeter space around the border, cut a slightly larger piece of boxboard, glue and roll the bookmark vigorously.

Work carefully, work precisely and good luck with your project.
