Cursive Writing
This is a great example of one of my weekly grade six spelling test. It was written in the month of May. This student used cursive writing to write the words. This is an example of excellent work for a ten year old student!

All the letters in a cursive word are connected. Cursive is also  known as script or longhand writing. Cursive writing means that you can write an entire word without lifting your pencil from the paper. That's a big advantage!

This is a music chalkboard staff liner with the middle section taken out with a pair of vise grips.

Notice the red and blue chalk which matched the lines in my student's note book. This is a must tool to have if you are serious about teaching cursive writing.
Once I organized my students with pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers,    and notebooks, I used my guide (music chalkboard staff) to draw properly spaced guide lines across the width of the blackboard.

It was easy, because each year I used a chalk line, 25cm below the top and used a fine permanent marker to draw a permanent  line across the board.

Once you have that nearly invisible line drawn across the blackboard, it makes it easy to use the line guide.

Last of the preparation task is to mount your cursive writing guide across the top of the blackboard.

My spelling test were based on math, science or technology.
